Happy Pink Hijab Day

Salamu Alaykum Sisters, I hope you all remembered to wear your pink hijabs today to help celebrate Pink Hijab Day (PHD)! It’s an awesome event started a few years ago by Hend El-Buri to showcase Muslims as social activists and to help raise awareness for breast cancer. If you haven’t yet, please test yourself, or go get a mammogram as early detection is your best chance for survival!

  1. i sure was almost all pinky that, i guess it was due the excitement of celebrating my first pink hijab day. May Allah let us witness many more PHD’s to come and also save us from this deadly disease. Jazaks! to you also admin for creating this awareness through your blog.

  2. Ah that is so funny. If I only knew this. I live in Belgium and this is the first time that I’ve read about a pink hijabday! It’s a great way to show some awareness on brestcancer.
    MashaAllah!

    1. I think Sister Hend came up with an excellent idea. Think how powerful an image that is: Muslim women around the world wearing the same color hijabs in solidarity! We should pick a day for peace and ask every Muslim woman to wear a white scarf or green, or blue, whichever color is more appropriate. The world would take notice and even if people didn’t ask questions directly, they would certainly be curious and they would probably google it when they got home. And try and find out more about Muslims and why we wear the hijab, and the truth behind the lies spread by the media, by fear and ignorance.

That aside, it’s just fun being part of something global!

  3. Unfortunately, sister’s, I missed out on this year! 🙁

Next time around, I’ll be sure to have my PH for the big D!
