Robber Converts to Islam Due to Kindness

A robber who held up a Long Island Deli with a baseball bat converted to Islam after the Muslim owner showed him kindness. The owner Mohammad Suhail, who had a gun gave the robber $40 and a loaf of bread. Over a year later, the robber sent Mr. Suhail an anonymous letter in the mail with $50, his gratitude and information about his conversion to Islam.

The would be robber apologized in his letter saying “First of all I would like to say I am sorry at the time I had [no] money no food on the table no job and nothing for my family.” He also went on to say “When you had that gun to my head I was 100% that I was going to die,” and said he begged to convert to Islam at that moment only because he feared death.

But suhbhanAllah he did convert. “Now I have a new child and good job make good money staying out of trouble and taking care of my family. You gave me forty dollars thank you for sparing my life Because of that you change my life.” Suhail’s act of kindness was immense; he saved a man’s life, he saved him from going to jail, and he gave him a second chance at life and at akhira. If only we could all be as kind in our day to day lives it would come back to us because Allah has promised if you give Him a loan it will come back to you many times over.

Due to Suhail’s actions, we have another brother in Islam and for a change, we have a positive story about Islam in the media. Alhamdulillah.

    1. Alhamdulillah!! Masha’allah for Aaron, it is impossible to make such a decision without the aid of Allah. May Allah help us all (misguided, sleeping, awake) to find the siratul mustaqeem (straight path). Ameen Ya Rab al-Alamin!
